A greenway is a sustainable corridor for walking, running, biking, learning, and enjoying. These corridors across the country and globally are located in both rural or urban areas. They focus on highlighting and nurturing the native environment and culture of a specific region.

Greenways link together nature, human community across generations, and recreation in an attempt to pay homage to the region in which they are located and the people living there yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

They are made to shape a more sustainable landscape in ecosystems that could otherwise be destroyed by developments, urbanization, and pollution.

What is the Bucknell Greenway?

The Bucknell Greenway is a 4-mile walkway that links various parts of Bucknell’s campus. Greenways serve many purposes, one of which is to connect people and places. The Bucknell Greenway promotes the natural and cultural landscapes that Bucknell inhabits and exemplifies how the university can contribute to the sustainability and environmental health of the region.

The Greenway also serves as a crossroad for nature, sustainability, community, culture, and history to be enjoyed, nurtured, restored, and studied. Its future growth will include the campus and local communities. Come join us on the Greenway!
